Mario Miranda

For those who grew up in India during the 80s, you may remember Mario Miranda. For me, his cartoons depicted the stark differences in Indian Society between the uppity folks and the common man. He was from Goa (a former Portuguese Colony in the Indian Subcontinent) and he often depicted life there during his time. His cartoons had great attention to details and you would have to look at each element and character in the picture carefully to see understand what was going in the scene and with them. I think he had his cartoons in one of the daily newspapers at the time (Can't recall which one. Most likely the Indian Express). They made me laugh at the time in that most childish sort of way. They still do... :)

Here is my tribute to his work in a reproduction of one his cartoons.
